Raw Materials

Our selection includes reindeer, deer, elk and lamb leather.

Our reindeer hides are sourced primarily from Finland and are obtained as a by-product of reindeer husbandry. Deer and elk hides are mainly by-products of hunting.

Our lamb leather comes from South America. Our selection includes cabretta lamb leather, which is particularly valued for its softness and fine grain.

 

Manufacturing Process

Our leather is produced in cooperation with a Finnish tannery, combining extensive experience with professional craftsmanship.

Transforming raw hides into finished leather involves numerous processing stages. These processes determine the leather's final properties, including softness, thickness, colour and surface finish.

 

Use and Durability

Leather is a versatile material suitable for a wide range of applications when selected according to its intended use. Its properties vary depending on thickness, processing methods and surface treatments.

Some of our leathers have a dirt- and water-repellent finish. The properties of these treatments vary by product, so please refer to the individual product description for more detailed information.

We measure leather by area in square feet (ft2).

1 square foot = 30.48 × 30.48 cm

 

Price and Material Value

The price of leather depends on several factors, including animal species, grade, thickness, processing and availability.

We offer different grades to help our customers choose the right material for their intended application.

 

Leather Grades

We classify our leather into three grades based on surface appearance and natural markings. This classification helps customers select suitable materials according to the appearance requirements and intended use of their products.

 

1. Top Selection

Carefully selected leather with minimal visible natural markings. Particularly suitable for products requiring a uniform surface and the ability to cut larger, continuous pieces. Its high visual quality allows for efficient use of the leather and makes it an excellent choice for products where appearance is especially important.

 

2. Good Selection

High-quality, durable leather that may contain more natural markings and minor surface irregularities. Its functional properties are comparable to those of premium-grade leather, but the surface may show greater variation.

 

3. Average Selection

A more affordable option with clearly visible natural markings and other surface variations. Suitable for a wide range of products where a perfectly uniform appearance is not essential.
